My Approach
My practice is committed to helping each patient maximize their full potential and meet their specific treatment goals. Additionally, I firmly believe in offering services that are effective and supported by research. My clinical work is heavily enriched by scientific studies on self-compassion and resilience, as well as quality of life and well-being theory. My formal approach to psychotherapy primarily uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), a form of therapy that is backed by extensive research findings. In CBT, individuals learn to identify and shift specific ways of thinking and behaving that can either enhance or hinder their mood. Treatment is influenced by the idea that lasting change comes from small, consistent changes in thoughts and behavior.
While heavily influenced by CBT, my approach is also flexible, making sure that I tailor treatment to the specific needs of each patient or family. My treatments may also integrate other theoretical orientations in which I have been trained such as psychodynamic, family systems, or client-centered therapy. I believe in providing honest, compassionate feedback while collaborating with patients to establish treatment goals. I also strive to find the "optimal push" to help patients make gains with an approach that is both supportive and directive.
Whether working with a patient with a specific clinical disorder or helping an individual create a more balanced lifestyle, I aim to leverage my patient’s existing strengths to help them evolve into their best selves. I believe in training patients to eventually become their own therapist to not only improve their current well-being, but also to ensure they continue to thrive and succeed long after therapy has ended.
Therapy is not indefinite in my practice, but it can be an investment in creating deeper relationships and life satisfaction for the long term.
With the increased demands of the 21st century, the decision to seek therapy has never been more relevant. For many people, therapy can kickstart authentic change and lead us closer to the life we really want to live. Taking the time to find the right psychologist can be an important first step in changing patterns and living well.
I hope my website can inform your decision and inspire you to prioritize your well-being. More importantly, I hope you find time to invest in your emotional health and create a life with more joy, fulfillment and meaningful connections.
